Buddy, we have to pull the unicorn out of the ditch. We’re gonna move the unicorn out and place him in the land of search engines. For what? For flying on this horse in that land.

But first, what is SEO copywriting?

Well, SEO stands for search engine optimization. This is the process of optimizing a site to bring as much related traffic to a site as possible through the high organic ranking of its pages.

And, SEO copywriting is the act of writing SEO copy for your targeted audience and search engines. Purpose? Lead generation. SEO copywriting is done to persuade someone take an action on the web page for the lead or sale generation. Search engine optimized copy or SEO copy is an important factor to rank a website in search engine results pages or SERPs.  

Well, there are several tricks/tips to write SEO copy. But first consider some rules, which you should keep in your mind before writing SEO copies.

Write for humans: 

The number one tip that could be given for writing successful SEO copy is to write for humans. Yes, we have to rank our website in search engines. But this does not mean that we write for machines. We should not use complicated language to write SEO copy. Plus, your copy should be engaging enough to tell your reader where’s their stop button. Why? Therefore, they could focus on reading your content. Use simple sentences in your copy. Use easy-to-understand phrases. Use easy vocabulary to avoid distracting your reader. Employ bucket brigades or phrases for maintaining or enhancing engagement in your copy. Some instances of bucket bridges are:

Writing for human beings also reminds me of another thing, friend. You should write such copy that is not keyword-stuffed along with being precious & engaging. Try to keep your copy high standard so that this could attract several backlinks. What are backlinks? Backlinks are those links that point to your site pages and belong to other websites. For successful SEO, backlinks are also essential. Your copy gets ranked higher when it has backlinks. Now, let’s move to the next point.

Understand Google’s ranking system:

You should carefully understand Google’s ranking system. Why? In this way, you could effectively rank your content. For instance, you should write a meta title & meta description for your site page. These tags help Google figure out which keywords suit your copy. Then, you should insert your targeted keyword in your copy as much as should be. I repeat, don’t overuse your primary/targeted keyword. Then, use other relevant keywords in your copy. That would get you rank your content very high in SERPs. Got my point!   

Perform your keyword research:

You should perform your keyword research to know some long-tail or long keywords. Why these long-tail keywords? Well, you require such keywords to get ranked on Google easily and prominently. The reason is short-tail or short keywords have a big search volume. But these are highly competitive search phrases. Now, let’s move on to know more rules.

Write long content:

Hmm, you should craft long-form content for your readers. Why? They want to read detailed information on one page about a topic. When you write such a copy and publish it for them, they become more engaging on your page. Buddy, you know about this as well. Why would anybody want to search Google again and again for the same topic! Therefore, what people need, Google needs as well. 

Make your sentences unique:

You should write plagiarism-free copy. Try to get maximum uniqueness for your copy. When I say online audience members, I feel you should pay a lot of attention on your audience retention. Why? Coz if you have more old site users, you’d ultimately form an online community for your site. This community would keep on visiting your site for more valuable information that your website is based on. They’d recommend your site to their fellows online and offline as well. In this way, when people would love to spend more time on your website, and these people aren’t new as well. This factor which also lessens your site’s overall bounce rate would ultimately lead your site pages go higher and higher on search engine results pages (SERPs).   

Use related keywords:

Another essential factor is you should use LSI keywords (latent semantic indexing keywords) for your site. What are these keywords? Hmm, these keywords or search terms are such phrases, which are semantically connected to your published topic. For instance, if you have a quality page related to how to make a gold locket, you should have added some LSI terms. For instance, for this gold locket article, some LSI keywords could be gold lockets for women, gold lockets for Mumbai, and structure of gold necklaces, etc. Clear? 

Link to high-quality websites:

Hmm, another rule for you by my site is linking your content to high-quality websites. For what? You should link to high-authority sites to make your content reliable. If you take some information from an external source, cite this source in your copy. Also, you should link to high-level sites for more in-depth info. That’s how you grow your website as a copywriter.    

Use various content types:

You should use different content kinds in your copy. For example, you should add an image, video, infographics, GIF, or other media in your copy to make this more attractive for people and search engines. Search engines love those pages, which have multiple content types to show to online readers. Why? Sometimes, people don’t want to read or scan information. They just want to take a look at an image or watch a video to get what’s in the copy. This variation of media makes your article worthy of high ranking on search engines. Because where people are moving, Google moves there as well.

Use multiple subheadings:

You should use several subheadings in your copy to make that look highly detailed for readers and Google. When Google sees multiple subheadings in your copy, this is a sign for him that your page is filled with enough info regarding a specific topic. Well, the usage of multiple subheadings also lets you use more and more LSI keywords in your copy. Well, a big ranking factor subheadings are for you, buddy.  

Keep your copies under the same domain:

Then, you should keep all your copy under the same domain. Why? This is essential for your high SERPs ranking and credibility as a copywriter. If you have your portfolio site, as an instance, and all of its related content you have under the same domain, you are noted as a reliable & successful copywriter for your readers and search engines. There is no reason to publish some of your same kind copies under multiple domains. What is considered effective on the internet, it is. So, you should be highly precautious in this case.

Share your copy on social media:

You should share your copy on social media/SM. Why? This makes it more valuable in the search engines’ eyes. So, your copy gets ranked more and more and on higher positions on SERPs. Where people come, Google comes there too. Plus, your copy would go viral/spread on Google SERPs too if your copy’s viral or spread on SM. 

Check your website activity via Google Analytics:       

Hmm, you should monitor your website activities via free Google Analytics. In this way, you would be able to comprehend which pages perform well and which don’t perform well. And, many answers you could get for several questions. Like how many desktop users you have got, and how many mobile users you have got? For instance, you’d also be able to know the percentage (%) of your returning website audience.   

Craft a hooking title/headline:

Write such titles that are clear, precise, concise, catchy, numbered, keyword-oriented, and informational. Besides, these should have suitable capitalization as well. Such attractive titles make your page highly engaging in front of online searchers. Plus, they’re more likely to click on your pages after reading these titles.
